Musicals Tonight!, the scrappy musical theatre concert series sung at the Mainstage of the 14th Street Y in Manhattan, is reviving the Gershwins' 1930 musical comedy, Girl Crazy, Sept. 4-16.

The musical tells of New Yorkers invading a small Arizona town and offers some of George and Ira Gershwin's most indelible numbers, including "Bidin' My Time," "I Got Rhythm," "Embraceable You" and "But Not For Me." Director Tom Mills is including the Gershwins' "You've Got What Gets Me" (from an obscure "Girl Crazy" movie) into the score. Jim Stenborg is the musical director.

The cast includes Perry Laylon Ojeda, Kelli Rabke, Keith Benedict, Kirstie R. Bingham, Courtney Blythe, Liz Casasola, Matthew Ellison, Joseph Franchini, Rachel Hale, Michael Lluberes, Michael McGuirk, Matthew Morgan, Fabio Monteiro, Liz Pearce, Rebecca Rich, Shelby Rose, Matt Seidman and Will Woodrow. Ethel Merman and Ginger Rogers were the original stars of the show.

Tickets are $19. The Mainstage of The 14th Street Y is at 344 E. 14th Street. For information, call (212) 362-0713.

* Founder Mel Miller's series is performed with piano and voice. Girl Crazy inspired the Broadway smash, Crazy For You.

Girl Crazy also offers such quirky arcana as "Goldfarb, That's I'm!," "(When It's) Cactus Time in Arizona" and "Land of the Gay Caballero." The score was preserved on CD in the 1980s by producer Tommy Krasker, the Gershwin estate and Nonesuch Records. Lorna Luft sang on that disc.
