News   Emily Skinner Among Broadway Stars Set for St. Louis Follies
She'll play Phyllis with Christiane Noll as Sally.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis has lined up some Broadway talent, including three Tony Award nominees, for a revival of the Stephen Sondheim/James Goldman musical Follies that will kick off its 50th anniversary season.

Leading the cast are Emily Skinner (as Phyllis), Bradley Dean (Ben), Christiane Noll (Sally) and Adam Heller (Buddy). The supporting cast includes Broadway performers Nancy Opel (Carlotta) and Dorothy Stanley (Emily), as well as E. Faye Butler (Stella). Skinner earned her Tony nomination for Side Show, Noll for Ragtime and Opel for Urinetown.

St. Louis’ local theatre stars will also be represented in the cast: Joneal Joplin (Weismann), Zoe Vonder Haar (Hattie) and Ron Himes (Max).

Directed by Rob Ruggiero, Follies will run September 7 – October 2 on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts. Casting is by McCorkle Casting Ltd.

“This is just a brilliant way to launch our 50th season,” said Steven Woolf, the Rep’s artistic director. “With a thrilling cast and impressive creative team, this will be a very special production of this amazing show.”

Featuring a book by Goldman and a score by Sondheim, the musical is set at a 1970s reunion of stars from the Ziegfeld-like Weismann Follies. Two couples work through unfinished romantic business that they thought they'd left far behind them. The score includes “I'm Still Here,” “Who's That Woman?,” “Would I Leave You?,” “In Buddy's Eyes” and other Sondheim classics.

Subscriptions to The Rep’s golden anniversary 2016-2017 season are now on sale, and can be purchased by calling the box office at (314) 968-4925 or visiting the Loretto-Hilton Center at 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University). Single tickets for Follies will go on sale August 15.
