The 7 PM concert is presented free to the public as part of ReGroup's "Lost" Group Theatre Plays. The company was created to continue the legacy and celebrate the work of the Group Theatre and its writers. Ken Marks will musical-direct.

Authored by Weill and Paul Green, the 1936 musical Johnny Johnson, according to ReGroup, "centers around a big-hearted innocent named Johnny Johnson, the most common name of the killed American soldier in World War I, who, during a celebration of peace, finds out that a new war has broken out. Against his instincts, Johnny enlists, befriends the other side, but his valiant efforts to end the war peacefully are defeated by bureaucracy."

The Group Theatre first staged the musical in 1936 and again in 1971. Johnny Johnson was Weill's first American commission.

The cast will include George Bartenieff, William Best, Rachel Casparian, Emily Ciotti, David Dempsey, Linda Glick, Daniel Hainsworth, Con Horgan, Pete McElligott, Kelsey Moore, Allie Mulholland, James Patrick Nelson, Maurya Scanlon, Shelley Valfer, Steven Vause, Kate Warren, Zach Wegner and Timothy Weinert.

Johnny Johnson will take place at the 47th Street Theatre, located at 304 W. 47th Street. For free reservations phone (212) 340-1054 or e-mail [email protected].
