News   EXCLUSIVE: Helene Yorke, Adrienne Warren and Nick Blaemire Cast in Bring It On: The Musical
A host of performers, including Broadway talent and award-winning competitive cheerleaders from across the country, have been cast in the world premiere musical Bring It On, inspired by the popular Universal Pictures films about rival cheerleading teams, which will debut at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta in early 2011.

Helene Yorke (Wicked national tour) will play Campbell, with Adrienne Warren (Dreamgirls national tour) as Danielle and Nick Blaemire (Cry-Baby, Glory Days) as Randall.

The cast will also include Ariana DeBose, Brandon Espinoza (Gypsy, Big), Gregory Haney (Memphis, Wicked), Rod Harrelson (Legally Blonde), Dominique Johnson, Janet Krupin, Amanda LaVergne, Michael Mindlin (Mamma Mia!), Ryann Redmond, Elena Ricardo, Kate Rockwell (Legally Blonde), Jon Rua (In the Heights), LaQuet Sharnell (Memphis) and Ephraim M. Sykes.

Among the cheerleaders who will bring the explosive aerial stunts of Bring It On to life are Antwan Bethea, Michael Naone-Carter, Courtney Corbeille, Brooklyn Freitag, Melody Mills, Sheldon Tucker, David Ranck and Lauren Whitt.

Tony Award-winning In the Heights choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will direct and choreograph the production that will begin Jan. 15, 2011, and officially open Jan. 28, 2011. The production will run through Feb. 20, 2011.

Although the musical is inspired by the film property, Tony Award-winning Avenue Q book writer Jeff Whitty (who also wrote the book of the new Tales of the City musical) has penned an original libretto for the musical that retains its setting of the world of competitive cheerleading. The musical boasts a unique musical collaboration. Bring It On has music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights), as well as music by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by his High Fidelity collaborator, lyricist Amanda Green.

Plans beyond the Alliance premiere have not been announced, however, previous reports stated that a national tour was a possibility for Bring It On.

The Atlanta premiere is presented by the Alliance Theatre in special arrangement with Universal Pictures Stage Productions/Glenn Ross, Beacon Communications/Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons, and Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson.
