Set for an August 26 release, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, marks Streisand’s third album dedicated to songs from the musical theatre canon, having previously released The Broadway Album and Back to Broadway in 1985 and 1993, respectfully, both of which went multi-platinum.

In addition to the 10-track standard release of Encore, Target will issue an exclusive 14-track deluxe version of the album that includes several show-stopping, dramatic songs, which fans have been waiting to hear Streisand record.

Along with the wistful ballad “I Didn't Know What Time It Was” from Too Many Girls, the bonus material includes “Not a Day Goes By” from Merrily We Roll Along, the Follies torch song “Losing My Mind,” and the powerhouse eleven o’clock number from Ballroom, “Fifty Percent.”

Originally directed and choreographed on Broadway by Michael Bennett, the short-lived 1978 musical Ballroom was based on the 1975 television movie Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, which starred Maureen Stapleton as Bea, a lonely widow who begins an affair with a married man she meets at a local dance hall.

Dorothy Loudon originated the role on Broadway, and introduced the poignant and powerful show-stopper “Fifty Percent,” which was written by composer Billy Goldenberg, and the lyric-writing team of Marilyn and Alan Bergman. The show lasted only 127 performances, but “Fifty Percent” has endured.

The Bergmans have revised a handful of their original lyrics for Streisand, who puts her own stamp on the material, creating an introductory scene of her own that illustrates the moment leading up to the song. Joining Streisand for the scene is her husband, actor James Brolin.
