Nestled among such '97 Lincoln Center Festival behemoths as Palestrina and Les Danaides is Incident at Cobbler's Knob, a new theatrical offering by Amy and David Sedaris, aka The Talent Family. Running July 8 to 11 at LaGuardia High School in New York, the comedy is described as a "fabulously Aesopian tale about the flight of farmyard animals to the sanctuary of the woodland, where they encounter all the prejudice city-dwellers might find today in the good old American heartland."

Those familiar with other works by the writing duo - including Stitches, One Woman Shoe, and The Little Freida Mysteries, which enjoyed two sold-out runs at La Mama this past winter - will expect something more off-beat and unpredictable than the synopsis indicates.

A seasoned comedy performer on stage and TV, Amy performs in all Talent Family productions, while David is a writer/essayist and sometimes NPR commentator. His critically acclaimed collection of essays, Naked, was released in early 1997, and is a New York Times bestseller. He was recently named one of the top 100 most creative people in entertainment by Entertainment Weekly, a distinction accorded to only two playwrights (the other being Mike Leigh, better known for his independent British films).

Prior to the July 9 performance of Incident, the Sedaris duo will hold a free meet-the-artists session at 6PM at LaGuardia Theater, located at 65th St. and Amsterdam Ave.
