The Theatre Under The Stars production of Ragtime runs April 16–28 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas. Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who was nominated for a Tony for Best Direction for the 2009 revival of the musical, directs and choreographs.
The cast is headed by Ezekiel Andrew as Coalhouse Walker Jr., Danyel Fulton as Sarah, Evan Kinnane as Younger Brother, Courtney Markowitz as Mother, Ryan Silverman as Father, and Robert Petkoff, reprising his Broadway role as Tateh, with Maya Kaul as Little Girl, Michael Karash as Little Boy, and Noah Gamarra and Rayekeis Smith sharing the role of Coalhouse Walker III.
Rounding out the company are Doug Atkins as Willie Conklin, Kevin Cooney as Grandfather, Emma Degerstedt as Evelyn Nesbit, Chris DeProphetis as Henry Ford, Trey Harrington, Paul Hope as JP Morgan, Mark Jammal, Regina Morgan, Rachel Osting, Rebecca Russell, Stephonne Smith as Booker T. Washington, Kim Stengel as Emma Goldman, Josh Walden as Houdini, Denise Ward, LaBraska Washington, and Phil Young.

Based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, Ragtime has a book by Terrence McNally and a score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens.
The creative team also includes music director Brad Haak, set designer Kevin Depinet, costume designer Santo Loquasto, lighting designer Matthew Richards, and sound designer Andrew Harper. Casting is by Associate Artistic Director Megan Larche Dominick, CSA.
"Twenty years after Ragtime opened on Broadway, the themes it dealt with are even more relevant today," said Artistic Director Dan Knechtges in an earlier statement. "We’re still grappling with issues of race, class, gender equality, and political clashing. I love works of theatre that give us some answers and inspire us to create a more equitable society."
