Produced by Jeremy Handelman/Off The Leash Productions, the rock musical comedy by David Eric Davis and Sam Forman officially opened March 15 following preview that began Feb. 13.
“When I first met David Eric Davis and Sam Forman four years ago and was introduced to F#%king Up Everything, I knew we had something special and that we would be in it for the long haul. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to shepherd FUE from The New York Musical Theatre Festival to an out of town run to its commercial Off-Broadway debut. It has been deeply gratifying to enjoy three months of performances in the heart of the theater district with our amazing cast and team. I am extremely proud of their brilliant creative work. To walk away with award nominations and tremendous critical response makes me very excited about the future of this thoroughly delightful rock musical comedy," said producer Handelman in a statement.
The cast comprises Max Crumm as Christian Mohammed Schwartzelberg with Lisa Birnbaum, Dawn Cantwell, Katherine Cozumel, Jason Gotay, George Salazar and Douglas Widick.
The new musical has music and lyrics by David Eric Davis and a book by Sam Forman and Davis. It is directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman with orchestrations and music supervision by Matt Hinkley and music direction by Eli Zoller.
F#%king Up Everything is billed as a "rock musical comedy with heart. Set in today's Brooklyn indie music scene, it is an old-fashioned boy-meets-girl love story for the 21st century. When these hipsters aren't true to who they are, they screw up everything. Especially love. And no one screws up more than children’s puppeteer Christian Mohammed Schwartzelberg when he meets singer-songwriter Juliana, the girl of his dreams." The production also has set design by Deb O, sound design by Mike Tracey, costume design by Melissa Trn, puppet design by David Valentine and lighting design by Joel E. Silver.
