News Falling, New Off-Broadway Play Concerning Young Man with Autism, Will Benefit Autism Speaks Terry Schnuck, James and Catherine Berges, Crystal Beuerlein, and Michael and Noemi Neidorff, producers of the new Off-Broadway play Falling, announced that they will donate $5 for each full-price ticket purchased for performances in October to Autism Speaks.

Autism Speaks, which is the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, is "dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families." Deanna Jent's new play will begin an open-ended run Sept. 27 at the Minetta Lane Theater. Directed by Lori Adams, opening night is scheduled for Oct. 15.

The cast will comprise Daniel Everidge, Celia Howard, Daniel Pearce, Jacey Powers and Julia Murney.

Falling is described as a new drama "about how 18-year-old Josh, who has autism, affects the lives of everyone around him. When a relative comes to visit, the entire family is thrown off their equilibrium, with everyone trying to balance what is best for the family and what is best for them."

The upcoming production will have set design by John C. Stark, costume design by Tristan Raines, lighting design by Julie Mack and sound design by Raymond Schilke. Rick Sordelet will serve as fight choreographer. Deanna Jent is the associate director of Mustard Seed Theatre in St. Louis, MO, and a professor of theatre at Fontbonne University. Other writing for the stage includes adaptations of the novels "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis and "Imaginary Jesus" by Matt Mikalatos. 

Falling was developed at Mustard Seed Theatre in the fall of 2011 and won the 2012 Kevin Kline Award for Best New Play.

Performances will be Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
