SEATTLE -- Seattle's The Group Theatre opens its 1996-97 season with an encore presentation of Falsettos, composed by William Finn and book by James Lapine, playing July 25-August 25.

The Tony Award-winning through-sung musical is composed of two acts. The first is titled March of the Falsettos; the second, Falsettoland. Both revolve around Marvin, who desperately wants to make a family out of his lover Whizzer, his son, his ex-wife and his psychiatrist (who are now married), and their two lesbian next-door neighbors.

The story, about how the American family must reshape itself in the face of today's changing society, climax's with his son Jason's Bar Mitzvah, where the great love the unique family possesses is revealed. The plot is complicated by Whizzer developing full-blown AIDS.

A four piece band, musically directed by Jeff Caldwell, will remain onstage throughout the show. Stephen Terrel, who directed the Group's first Falsettos production, returns to direct.

Tickets to Falsettos are available at the Group Theatres box office or by calling (206) 441-1299.
