PlayBlog Fantasia Sets the Color Purple Record Straight with Oprah "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino, who made her Broadway debut in The Color Purple, recently chatted with Oprah about her experience in the Broadway musical.

Oprah (who was a producer of the Broadway production) asked Fantasia about her 60 absences from Color Purple, which cost the production $500,000. Barrino revealed she was going to the hospital for IV's to combat dehydration and fatigue, and was also battling tumors on her vocal cords, which were surgically removed after the Broadway run.
