News Fasten Your Seatbelts! Melting Pot Benefit Is Starry Radio Show of "All About Eve" Melting Pot Theatre Company (MPTC) will bring theatrical icons Margo Channing, Eve Harrington and Addison DeWitt to life again for its annual gala — a one-night-only, all-star concert reading of the 1951 radio-play adaptation of "All About Eve."

Bitter one liners, grand speeches about the the-ah-tuh and backstabbing are all to be expected from this Nov. 7 retelling of what's considered one of the greatest films about backstage drama. A cast of Broadway stars will recreate the tale.

The 1950 film starred Bette Davis (as a turning-40 star), Celeste Holm (as her pal, the wife of a playwright), Gary Merrill (as the wunderkind stage and film director, Margo's beau), Thelma Ritter (as Margo's wisecracking dresser), George Sanders (as an acidic, corrupt drama critic), Anne Baxter (as the grasping wannabe star who gloms on to Margo) and a very young Marilyn Monroe (in a cameo).

Nick Corley directs the production, a 1951 "Lux Radio Theatre" adaptation based on the film written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. The film inspired the stage musical, Applause.

The Melting Pot presentation will star two-time Tony Award nominee Kate Burton (Constant Wife, Hedda Gabler), four-time Tony Award nominee Gregg Edelman (Wonderful Town, Into the Woods, Melting Pot's Flight); Adam Heller (The Immigrant, A Class Act); Jackie Hoffman (Hairspray, The Big Time); Terrence Mann (Cats, The Scarlet Pimpernel); Fred Newman (A Prairie Home Companion); Kerry O'Malley (Into the Woods, Annie Get Your Gun, Melting Pot's Flight); Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway, Little Me); Patrick Quinn (A Class Act, Sound of Music); Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner (Dinner at Eight, The Full Monty); and Tamara Tunie (Julius Caesar, TV's "Law & Order: SVU" and "As the World Turns"), with more to be announced.

The performance will take place at 7:30 PM Nov. 7 at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow St. & Seventh Ave. South in the West Village). A post-show reception will take place at 9 PM at Agave (140 Seventh Ave. South & West 10th St., two blocks away). Tickets are $600 and $300 each, with rows of 10 available for $6,000 and $3,000. A limited number of show-only tickets are available for $100. A sizable portion of each ticket is a tax-deductible charitable contribution.

Tickets may be purchased directly from MPTC at (212) 874-7210 (phone), (212) 874-6054 (fax), or [email protected].
