Feinstein will kick off the new room with a program entitled An American in London, which is scheduled to play the Shaw Jan. 6-11, 2008.

In a letter on his official website, Feinstein says, "It gives me great joy to talk about my new association with the Shaw Theatre. From January 2008 we will be bringing a new series of musical performers to that wonderful space, and we're calling it 'Feinstein's at the Shaw.'

"For almost a decade I have had a nightclub in New York called 'Feinstein's at Loews Regency' and in addition to myself, we have featured many great artists such as the late Rosemary Clooney, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, George Shearing, Donny Osmond, Cleo Laine, Jackie Mason, Tony Martin, Michel Legrand and most recently, Chita Rivera who appears at Feinstein's at the Shaw February 2008.

"The vision for the Shaw will be similar to its New York counterpart and will present many of the multi-generational artists who are best appreciated in a more intimate theatrical setting, but it will also have a more Euro-centric flavour. We plan to present a Songwriters' series, a Legends series and evenings of special tributes that will run the gamut of all different types of good music. In New York, many performers play Feinstein's because they feel that the large cavernous spaces in which they are often invited to play separates them from their fans and precludes the essential artist/listener connection. The Shaw is only 450 seats and there truly isn't a bad seat in the house."

A four-time Grammy nominee, Michael Feinstein is often credited with reinvigorating the American popular song. The crooner has performed in concert halls around the world and on Broadway and now co-owns his own nightclub, Feinstein's at Loews Regency. His numerous solo recordings include "Michael and George: Feinstein Sings Gershwin," "Big City Rhythms" "Romance On Film, Romance On Broadway," "Michael Feinstein with The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra," "Only One Life: The Songs of Jimmy Webb" and "Hopeless Romantics." The Shaw Theatre forms part of the Novotel London St. Pancras Hotel on Euston Road next to the British Library and the St. Pancras International station.
