A press statement released Feb. 19 states that the limited engagement at the Cort Theatre has recouped its entire original investment of $2.09 million.
Among the other productions of the season that have recouped their investments are All My Sons, The Seagull and Speed-the-Plow.
You're Welcome America is currently scheduled to run through March 15.
Ferrell is joined onstage by Michael Delaney as Dr. Scott Blumeth, Patrick Ferrell as a Secret Service Operative, Pia Glenn as Condoleezza Rice and Adam Mucci as the Pilot. Mindy Haywood is the understudy for the role of Condoleezza Rice.
You're Welcome America is directed by Adam McKay, Ferrell's longtime collaborator, and director of the comedy films "Anchorman," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" and the recent "Step Brothers," all Ferrell vehicles. "It's time for a change in America, but not without a few parting words from the 43rd President of the United States," according to You're Welcome America press notes. "Don't miss your chance to discover the man behind the myth, the truth behind the lies, and the logic behind the illogical in this limited Broadway event."
The production features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Tom Broecker, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, sound design by Peter Fitzgerald and video design by Lisa Cuscuna/Chris Cronin with choreography by Matt Williams and flying effects by Flying by Foy. Charles Means is the production stage manager.
As previously announced, HBO will air a live telecast of You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush. The HBO special, which will air March 14, will be directed by Marty Callner.
In addition to his work on "Saturday Night Live," Will Ferrell has enjoyed much success on the silver screen. His many films include "Stranger Than Fiction," "Winter Passing," "Bewitched," "Kicking & Screaming," "Melinda and Melinda," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Starsky & Hutch," "Elf," "Old School," "Zoolander," "The Ladies Man," "Superstar," "A Night at the Roxbury" and "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." Ferrell also played Franz Liebkind in the film musical "The Producers."
Michael Delaney is a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where he has directed, written and performed in countless shows. He has written for The Onion News Network and is a regular performer on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."
Patrick Ferrell has appeared in the films "Elf" and "A Night at the Roxbury," and his theatre work includes roles in Klondike and Snow and RALPH.
Pia Glenn made her Broadway in Kat and the Kings and has also appeared in productions of The Frogs, Hair and Man of La Mancha. Her screen credits include "Hannah Montana," "Ally McBeal," "Girls" Club," "Strong Medicine" and "Presidio Med."
Adam Mucci has been seen in "The Sopranos," "Little Children," "Revolutionary Road," "Righteous Kill," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU," "The Thing About My Folks," "It Runs in the Family," "The Family Man" and "Descent."
Mindy Haywood's stage credits include Romeo and Juliet, Stomp!, Aida, …Forum, Sweet Charity and Chicago.
You're Welcome America.
