Film Starring Gabriel Byrne, Nathan Lane, Boyd Gaines and More Gets Wide Release | Playbill

News Film Starring Gabriel Byrne, Nathan Lane, Boyd Gaines and More Gets Wide Release Directed by Lee Wilkof, No Pay, Nudity will hit theatres nationwide this November.

No Pay, Nudity, a film directed by Lee Wilkof, will receive wide release this fall after debuting at the Stoneybrook Film Festival July 26. It earned recognition for Achievement in Filmmaking by the festival jury.

Variety reports that Monterey Media has acquired the U.S. and Canada rights for the film and plans a U.S. theatrical release in November.

No Pay, Nudity marks Wilkof’s directorial debut (in film or theatre). The story follows a group of aging actors who have become a type of surrogate family, meeting up daily in the Actors’ Equity Lounge to try and book work. The idea for the movie actually came to Wilkof after a visit to the Lounge. “It was 15 years since the last time I’d been in the Equity Lounge, and it was just not a place I went often,” says Wilkof. But when he did drop in a few years back, “the same people were there that I had seen 15 years earlier, and I said to myself, ‘There’s a movie here.’”

Wilkof took his idea to screenwriter Ethan Sandler and, later, took the script to his old friend Nathan Lane. After a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds, Wilkof got the low-budget high-talent film in the can.

Wilkof, the actor who created the role of Seymour in the original Little Shop of Horrors, returns to Broadway this fall in Roundabout Theatre Company’s Holiday Inn.

Two-time Tony nominee Gabriel Byrne stars as Lester Rosenthal, a.k.a. Larry Rose. He was last seen this past Broadway season alongside Tony winner Jessica Lange in Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of Long Day’s Journey Into Night, a performance for which he was Tony-nominated. Last seen on Broadway in It’s Only a Play, Lane returns to the Great White Way this fall in a revival of The Front Page. The cast also includes four-time Tony winner Boyd Gaines, last seen on Broadway in 2012’s An Enemy of the People, two-time Tony winner (and five-time nominee) Donnay Murphy, Tony nominee Frances Conroy, as well as Jon Michael Hill, Zoe Pery and more.

Tani Cohen produces with Cliff Chenfeld and Seth Greenland executive producing.
