Tony winner Katie Finneran and Tony-nominated actress Kate Burton appear in Durang's comedy about "a chance meeting through a personal ad [that] provides two New Yorkers with a multitude of topics for their therapy sessions. The lines between doctor and patient, however, are hilariously blurred," festival press notes state. Alex Timbers directs. The Durang comedy, which runs through June 22, is a co-production with the Bay Street Theatre. Following the Williamstown engagement, Beyond Therapy arrives at the Sag Harbor arts venue July 8-27.
In addition to Finneran and Burton, Beyond Therapy features Darren Goldstein (Gutenberg! The Musical!), "SNL" player Darrell Hammond, Matt McGrath (Cabaret, "Boys Don't Cry") and Bryce Pinkham (A Woman of No Importance). (Goldstein replaces the previously announced Tom Cavanagh [Urinetown, "Ed"], who withdrew from the production due to scheduling conflicts.)
The creative team includes set designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Emily Rebholz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter and sound designer Fitz Patton.
Tickets for the Williamstown run can be purchased online at www.wtfestival.org or by calling (413) 597-3400.
