Richard Strauss’ Elektra began performances with the San Francisco Opera September 9, as part of a weekend inaugurating the company’s 95th season. Conducted by Henrik Nánási, making his San Francisco Opera debut, the production stars Soprano Christine Goerkin the title role as well as Mezzo Soprano Michaela Martens, Soprano Adrianne Pieczonka, Bass-Baritone Alfred Walker and Tenor Robert Brubaker.
