Production photos have been released for the Barbican Theatre remount of the Regent's Park Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar, which is set to open July 9 at the London venue. The production stars Robert Tripolino (Jesus), Ricardo Alfonso (Judas), Sallay Garnett (Mary), Samuel Buttery (Herod), Matt Cardle (Pilate), Cavin Cornwall (Caiaphas), Nathan Hamzi (Annas), Tim Newman (Simon), and Matthew Harvey (Peter).
Directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by King Kong director-choreographer Drew McOnie, the production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical originally played two sell-out seasons at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. It won the Oliver Award for Best Musical Revival and the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, before transferring for a run at the Lyric Opera of Chicago that starred Heath Saunders (The Great Comet, Alice by Heart) as Jesus, Ryan Shaw (Motown) as Judas, and Jo Lampert (Hundred Days, Joan of Arc: Into the Fire) as Mary.
