News Five Playwrights Will Offer New Plays for "Pets" Benefit An evening featuring five new plays will benefit Playwrights for Pets, the organization dedicated to "making theatre to benefit animals in need."

The May 19 fundraiser, entitled Between Man & Beast, will be held at Animal Haven in Manhattan. The 7:30 PM performance will include staged readings of new plays by playwrights Bill Dudley, Evan Guilford-Blake, V.E. Kimberlin, Ed Vela and Judd Lear Silverman. The latter directs.

Actors interpreting these new works will be James Arden, Kaseem Bristow, Erin Cronican, Eric Hunt, Jonna McElrath and Annie Pesch.

Running time is one hour.

There is a suggested donation of $10; all proceeds go to Animal Haven, the animal shelter/adoption center that cares for dogs and cats. Reservations can be made by calling (718) 768-4213 or by emailing [email protected].

Animal Haven is located at 251 Centre Street (between Grand and Broome Streets).
