News Fosse's Sa Ka La Closes Off-Broadway Sept. 27 The U.S. premiere of Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse's Sa Ka La closes Off-Broadway at the 45th Street Theatre Sept. 27.

Sarah Cameron Sunde, who directed the U.S. premiere of Fosse's Night Sings Its Songs at the Culture Project, reunited with the Norwegian playwright to translate and stage Sa Ka La. The production began performances Off-Broadway Sept. 7.

The company includes Noel Joseph Allain, Jacqueline Antaramian (Pride's Crossing), Mike Caban, Anna Gutto, Frank Harts (A Raisin in the Sun), Marielle Heller, Birgit Huppuch, Kathryn Kates and Raymond McAnally (God's Ear).

Sa Ka La, according to press notes, "takes place in a moment of crisis within a family when some of its members know a piece of bad news while the others have yet to hear about it. A mother has fallen victim to a stroke, on her 60th birthday, and it takes her three grown children, Nora, Hilde, and Ola completely by surprise. Meanwhile, the rest of the family can't be reached as they wait for her party to begin. Sa Ka La is not a Norwegian phrase. It's some of the unformed words the Mother makes after suffering her stroke."

Designing Sa Ka La are Jo Winiarski (scenic design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Paul Hudson (lighting design) and David Margolin Lawson (sound design).

Tickets for Sa Ka La, priced $18, are available by phoning (212) 239-6200 or by visiting Telecharge.
