News   Fox Hit Musical Series "Glee" Will Conclude After Sixth Season
"Glee," the Fox hit musical series starring Spring Awakening actress Lea Michele, will not continue beyond a sixth season, according to

Co-creator Ryan Murphy announced Oct. 16 at a Paley Center event, honoring FX Networks, that the show's next season will be its last and that the sudden death of Cory Monteith has forced him to plan a new ending to the series.

"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story," Murphy told reporters at the Oct. 16 event. "I always knew that; I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was — he was in it. I knew what the last line was — she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now.

"I have a good idea… I'm going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory's unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love."

The Oct. 10 episode, entitled "The Quarterback," celebrated the life of Monteith. Click here for highlights from that episode.

"Glee" is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers. Visit
