News Fred Thompson Is The Best Man for "Play's the Thing" Radio Series Nov. 10 Current presidential candidate, Senator Fred Thompson, will be featured with Marsha Mason in Los Angeles Theatre Works' "The Play's the Thing" production of Gore Vidal's The Best Man, which is scheduled to air Nov. 10.

The radio theatre series airs locally in Los Angeles Saturday nights from 10 PM-midnight on 89.3 FM KPCC Southern California Public Radio.

The Best Man, according to press notes, is "an incisive, dark political satire about two presidential contenders seeking the endorsement of an aging ex-president at any cost. With delightful cynicism, playwright Gore Vidal explores how personal agendas can ultimately change the course of a nation's destiny."

The program will also feature an extended 2002 interview with stars Thompson and Mason, who discuss "the dynamics of Washington politics and grass-roots activism."

LATW's nationally syndicated radio show "The Play's The Thing" series can be heard in cities across the country, including Boston, Seattle, Albuquerque as well as on XM Satellite radio. The two-hour radio broadcasts include special backstage features and interviews with actors, playwrights and directors. The L.A. Theatre Works Audio Theatre Collection is available in book stores, libraries, through their catalog or digitally on audible.com, the L.A. Theatre Works website and iTunes.
