News Free Reading of C.O.A.L. to Feature Christiane Noll, Trisha Jeffrey, Ken Robinson A free reading of David Brian Colbert's C.O.A.L. (confessions of a liar) will be presented Sept. 2 at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan.

The 2 PM reading will feature the talents of Christiane Noll (Ragtime, Tony nomination; Jekyll and Hyde; Urinetown), Trisha Jeffrey (Rent, Little Shop of Horrors, All Shook Up), Ken Robinson (Baby It's You), Noah Galvin (The Burnt Part Boys) and Stephen Hope (Deep Throat, Scarlet Pimpernel). C.O.A.L. (confessions of a liar), press notes state, "takes us on a journey through the mind and life of a confessed sociopath...known to us only as COAL. COAL is a biracial individual from a small town in the hills of West Virginia. From early childhood, COAL tries to battle the given rules of society and struggles with the circumstances of life in a poor mining town. Marginalized by everyone, COAL overcomes prejudice, poverty and abuse...and brings to light the questions, ...What is the truth in a society built on little white lies? ...At what lengths will one go to change the truth? ...Does the truth even matter? ...Well...Does it?"

This play was the winner of the Araca Works Playwright competition held earlier this year and received a reading at ArsNova produced by the Araca Group.
