Classic Arts News Freescale Semiconductor Becomes Austin Lyric Opera's Main Corporate Sponsor
The Austin-based chip manufacturer Freescale Semiconductor has donated $300,000 to the Austin Lyric Opera, reports the Austin Business Journal. It will become the company's primary corporate sponsor for the next three years.
The money will be used to subsidize the Lyric's move (scheduled for 2008) from its present home at Bass Concert Hall to its future home at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. It will also enable the company, currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, to continue its education and outreach programs.

The ABJ quotes Tamara Hale, managing director of the ALO as saying, "We are totally impressed with Freescale's leadership and the decisive role they have taken in supporting the arts in Austin, Texas."

"The Austin Lyric Opera helps enrich the music and arts community that makes Austin a great place to live and do business. We are proud to become the opera's title sponsor," added Michel Mayer, chairman and CEO of Freescale.

Freescale designs and manufactures embedded semiconductors for a range of markets.
