The latest work from the creators of Gone Missing will be seen at the Off-Broadway venue as part of the company's 2008-2009 season. The work will play next at Washington, D.C.'s Studio Theatre (June 11-29) and plays at the California company's Kirk Douglas Theatre in the fall before heading to New York in early 2009.

Seen in its recent world premiere at the Humana Festival of New American Plays, This Beautiful City was penned by Steven Cosson (who also directed) and Jim Lewis with music by Michael Friedman.

Using its signature documentary style, New York theatre company The Civilians "explores the growth of the evangelical Christian movement," according to This Beautiful City notes. The work was "drawn principally from interviews The Civilians conducted with people involved with or affected by the mega-church movement in Colorado Springs."

The Humana cast included Marsha Stephanie Blake, Dori Legg, Brad Heberlee, Stephen Plunkett, Emily Ackerman, Ian Brennan, Elizabeth Gilbert, Katie Gould, Andy Lutz, Bing Putney, Ashley Robinson and Matthew Sa.

The Civilians can be found on the web at thecivilians.org. For more information visit vineyardtheatre.org.
