News Friday Near the Park with John: Sondheim, Patinkin and Lapine Come Out for Kerry Composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, librettist-director James Lapine and actor-singer Mandy Patinkin—who famously teamed for the musical Sunday in the Park With George—will join forces again on Oct. 15 in support of Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.

From 6 PM to 8 PM, Sondheim (using Leonard Bernstein's piano) will play selections from the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical while Patinkin sings.

The Bernstein ivories are no coincidence. The event is being hosted by Jaime Bernstein, Alexander Bernstein, Nina Bernstein Simmons at the Leonard Bernstein family residence. Bernstein and Sondheim, of course, collaborated on West Side Story.

Tickets are $500 and there is a small VIP reception for individuals contributing $5,000. All proceeds benefit the Democratic National Committee. Attendance is being strictly limited to 80 people.
