Running Aug. 16 - 20 as part of the New York International Fringe Festival is Girobira, a performance piece by the Gaitzerdi Teatroa from Bilboa, Basque Country. Based on improvisation, music and movement, Girobira offers audiences a savage and colorful insight into theatre by incorporating the use of fire, water and sand to create a powerful atmosphere were "the boundaries between the actors and the audience dissolve."

Tickets are $12. Girobira plays in the courtyard at the CHARAS/El Bohio Community Center on the Lower East Side, located at 605 E. Ninth St., Aug. 16-20. The Fringe Festival itself runs Aug. 16-27. For information on Girobira, call the Fringe at (212) 420-8877, or visit www.fringenyc.org.
