News From Ruth to Roxie: Wonderful Town's Shields Confirms Role in London Chicago Brooke Shields, who is currently heading the cast of the Broadway revival of Wonderful Town, is London-bound.

In an interview on NY1's weekly theatre program, "On Stage," Shields told interviewer Donna Karger, "I am actually going to do Chicago in the West End, playing Roxie. Anything with an 'R' I'm gonna play for awhile. It'll be fun to still be dorky a little bit — but sexier."

When asked whether there are plans for her to eventually join the Broadway company of Chicago, Shields said, "I'm not sure, but I'm excited that I'm being given this opportunity [to play London]."

After succeeding Rosie O'Donnell in Grease! and Tony Award winner Donna Murphy in Wonderful Town, Shields did, however, express interest in creating a role on Broadway. "I think that'll be next," said Shields. "I've done the replacing, and I'm honored, but it's a lot of pressure to keep coming in and [having only] two weeks to learn [a role]."

No dates have been announced for Shields' Chicago run, although an earlier Fox News report said the actress would make her London stage bow in the spring.

Brooke Shields is currently back on Broadway in the revival of Wonderful Town, playing aspiring writer Ruth Sherwood. On Broadway Shields has also been seen in Grease! and Cabaret, and her Off-Broadway credits include The Vagina Monologues and The Exonerated. Shields' screen work includes “Pretty Baby,” “Endless Love,” “The Weekend,” “The Bachelor” and “King of the Gypsies.” She won an American Comedy Award for a guest appearance on “Friends,” which led to her hit series “Suddenly Susan.” Wonderful Town is set to close at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre Jan. 30.
