In the May 18 episode, “Dream On,” Tony Award winner Menzel returns as Shelby Corcoran, the director of rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline. Menzel is heard dueting on that Les Miserables heartbreaker, “I Dreamed a Dream,” with “Glee” regular and Spring Awakening star Lea Michele.

In what may or may not come as a surprise, Michele is heard singing “And still I dream she’ll come to me,” as opposed to the song’s original lyric, “And still I dream he’ll come to me.” Michele’s character, glee club star Rachel Berry, has been raised by two gay fathers, and presumably has never known her birth mother. The marked physical resemblance between Michele and Menzel has been noted long before Menzel even agreed to appear on the show. Could Menzel’s character be channeling her inner mother-gone-wrong in this power ballad? And, how does Michele fit into the song (besides the fact that she and Menzel can do some pretty harmonizing)?

Naturally, an episode titled “Dream On” has to include a performance of the Aerosmith classic of the same name, and we get one from no less than Harris (who plays anti-glee school board member Bryan Ryan) and Tony nominee Matthew Morrison, in his regular role of glee music director Will Schuester.
