News Future Conditional, Matthew Warchus's Inaugural Production at the Helm of London's Old Vic, Opens Tonight The world premiere of Tamsin Oglesby's Future Conditional –– which inaugurates Matthew Warchus's first season at the helm of London's Old Vic (succeeding Kevin Spacey as artistic director) –– opens officially Sept. 10 (following previews that began Sept. 1). The cast is led by screen and stage comedy star Rob Brydon, supported by 23 young performers.

The play tackles the conundrum of British schooling through a myriad of characters including parents, teachers, and Alia, a prodigiously clever young Pakistani refugee and the newest member of Britain's Education Research Board. But is the system ready to take lessons from a schoolgirl?

Rob Brydon

Brydon is best known for his TV and film work, including "Marion and Geoff," "Oliver Twist," "Heroes and Villains: Napoleon," "The Way We Live Now," "Murder in Mind," Cinderella" and the forthcoming HBO series "The Brink." His stage credits include A Chorus of Disapproval (West End) and The Painkiller (Belfast's Lyric Theatre, which he will reprise opposite Kenneth Branagh as part of the Kenneth Branagh Theatre previously announced season at the Garrick Theatre in March 2016).

The rest of the cast comprises Matthew Aubrey, Louisa Beadel, Lucy Briggs-Owen, Alex Clatworthy, Peta Cornish, Natasha Cottriall, Amy Dawson, Jennifer English, Sam Jenkins-Shaw, Natalie Klamar, Carla Langley, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Louis Martin, Joshua McGuire, Sukh Ojla, Bill Parfitt, Nikki Patel, Howard Perret, Sandra Reid, Sofia Stuart, Eleanor Sutton, Brian Vernel and Carmen Vandenberg.
