Classic Arts News Gala to Welcome New San Francisco Opera General Director David Gockley, the new general director of the San Francisco Opera, will be welcomed at a gala event held at the Four Seasons Hotel on February 10.
Gockley officially takes up his post on January 1, succeeding outgoing general director Pamela Rosenberg. Gockley was previously general director of the Houston Grand Opera, which presented 33 world premieres and six American premieres during his tenure.

"The Director's Ball," presented by the San Francisco Opera Guild, will feature soprano Patricia Racette, who will return to the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House for Madame Butterfly next summer. She will be accompanied by the composer and pianist Richard Rodney Bennett.

The Four Seasons will be transformed into a 1940s supper club for the occasion.
