Galt MacDermot, the composer of the musical Hair , which premiered at The Public Theater in 1967, returns to The Public to perform in Joe's Pub on Sunday, Feb 10, and Mondays, Feb. 11, 18, and 25.

MacDermot will appear with his New Pulse Jazz Band featuring Bernard Purdie, Wilbur Bascomb, John Frosk, and Vince MacDermot, son of Galt.

MacDermot has worked in almost all aspects of the performing arts including musicals, ballet ( La Novella , film scores ( Mistress ) and drama accompaniments ( The Sun Always Shines for the Cool ). MacDermot draws inspiration from musical scores, crossing the boundaries of jazz, folk, gospel, reggae, classical styles and rap.

Tickets to all performances, which are 7:30 PM, are $20 and can be purchased at The Public Theater box office Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Sunday and Monday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, or through Tele-charge, 212-239-6200, or at www.publictheater.org.
