GALVESTON, TX - Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals, produced by Lone Star Performing Arts Association, has announced its 22nd summer season, and as always classic revivals of family entertainments fill the bill.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella casts its spell June 10 - 27. As the song says, "Impossible! It's Possible!"

Grease, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, is the word July 1 - 18. Is there anything more appropriate than "Summer Nights" at an outdoor amphitheatre?

Hello, Dolly! returns July 22 - August 8. Book by Michael Stewart and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, the winner of ten Tony Awards is loosely based on Thornton Wilder's play The Matchmaker.

Anything Goes concludes the summer season, August 12 - 29. With songs by Cole Porter and book by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, the throwback show features, among other standards, "It's De-Lovely." The song may or may not help audiences deal with the humidity, not to mention the mosquitoes swarming around the outdoor amphitheatre--a1776-seat venue with no proscenium or overhead rails of any kind. Inspired by ancient Greek architecture, the design includes sharply angled tiers of seats, with the lower tiers below the level of the surrounding grounds. Consequently, no seat is very far from the vast stage, measuring some 150 ft. x 100 ft, not including two additional side stages.
