The new staging by the director of Broadway's The Color Purple will be presented at CST's intimate Upstairs Theater Oct. 2-Nov. 11. In the Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine tale of obsessive love, Kathy Voytko (Evita on tour, The Phantom of the Opera, Nine) will play comely Clara, and Kevin Gudahl (CST's Pacific Overtures and A Little Night Music) will be Colonel Ricci. The production is designed by set designer Eugene Lee (Wicked) and costume designer Paul Tazewell (The Color Purple).

Griffin's work includes Broadway's Tony Award-nominated The Color Purple, Olivier Award-winning Pacific Overtures, and CST's critically acclaimed productions of A Little Night Music and Sunday in the Park with George.

Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare is at Navy Pier, 800 E. Grand Ave. in Chicago, IL.
