News Geffen Adds Some Girl(s) to Season; LaBute to Direct L.A. Run Neil LaBute will direct his own Some Girl(s), which has just been added to the 2007-2008 season at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse.

The work will play at the Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater Jan. 29-March 6, 2008 with an opening slated for Feb. 6.

Following last season's production of LaBute's Fat Pig, Geffen continues its collaboration with the playwright on his play about a man reconnecting with past relationships. In the exposé of the modern male, a blossoming writer is on the verge of matrimony when he comes down with a bad case of cold feet. To make sense of his present, he calls up old girlfriends and hops flights across the country to see them.

The work debuted in London in May 2005 with David Schwimmer starring opposite Saffron Burrows, Lesley Manville, Sara Powell and Catherine Tate at the Gielgud Theatre. In 2006, the play came stateside with Eric McCormack taking the lead Off-Broadway opposite Fran Drescher, Judy Reyes, Brooke Smith and Maura Tierney.

Schwimmer had previously told he would be helming the work's Los Angeles debut.

LaBute's plays include bash: latter-day plays, The Shape of Things, The Distance From Here, The Mercy Seat, Autobahn, This Is How It Goes and Wrecks. He is also the writer-director of the films "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors," "Nurse Betty," "Possession," "The Shape of Things" and "Wicker Man." Third Starring Christine Lahti opened the current season at Geffen (and plays through Oct. 21). The 2007-2008 lineup continues with Quality of Life starring Laurie Metcalf (Oct. 2-Nov. 18), Atlanta (Nov. 20-Dec. 30), The Female of the Species starring Annette Bening (Feb. 5-March 16, 2008), Emergence-See! (April 15-May 25, 2008) and The Elephant in the Room (June 17-July 27, 2008).
