News Gene Saks Will Direct The Front Page for NC's PlayMakers Rep in October, Launching 30th Season PlayMakers Repertory Company will opens its 2005-06 season in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with the newspaper comedy The Front Page, directed by Broadway veteran Gene Saks.

The large-cast dark comedy by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur plays Oct. 5-30. Saks is known for his Broadway stagings of Neil Simon plays, as well his direction of the musical Mame and I Love My Wife. Also on the schedule for the 30th anniversary season of PlayMakers is Michele Lowe's String of Pearls (directed by Trezana Beverley) Bryony Lavery's Frozen (directed by Drew Barr), David Rambo's God's Man in Texas (directed by Anthony Powell) and Edmond Rostand's romantic drama Cyrano de Bergerac, directed by Joe Haj and featuring PlayMakers company member Ray Dooley in the title role.
