A concert staging of Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson's Knickerbocker Holiday will be presented Jan. 25-26, 2011, at 8 PM at Alice Tully Hall. Directed by Tony winner Ted Sperling, the evenings will feature Tony winner George Hearn as Stuyvesant and Christopher Fitzgerald as Tenpin. James Bagwell will conduct the American Symphony Orchestra. "Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson teamed up for the first time to create this delightful romantic comedy," according to press notes. "First performed in 1938 with Walter Huston in the role of Peter Stuyvesant, the work is one of Weill's deft hybrid theater pieces which lies somewhere between operetta and musical theater, and also contains bits of political satire."
Something Wonderful – A Night of Broadway with Deborah Voigt will be presented May 19, 2011, at 7 PM at Carnegie Hall. Voigt will offer an evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, Kern, Sondheim and others. The evening's guest artist will be Tony winner Paolo Szot. Ted Sperling will conduct the American Symphony Orchestra. (The Chorale's Annual Spring Benefit follows the concert.)
