The New Jersey venue will present the John Patrick Shanley work Nov. 27-Dec. 23 with an official opening Nov. 30.

In a statement George Street artistic director David Saint said, "I've wanted to bring this play to George Street from the moment I saw it on Broadway. Its exploration of perceptions and truth strikes a chord that is particularly relevant in today's times, and I am thrilled to be presenting it to our audiences."

The 90-minute drama concerns an older nun convinced that a young priest has acted inappropriately with a student. A young nun is caught between the two, and the boy's mother offers a surprising response to the relationship between priest and charge.

Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play, Doubt, directed on Broadway by Tony winner Doug Hughes, played 525 performances and 25 previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre before closing July 2, 2006. The play transferred to Broadway after a run Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's City Center Stage I.

The George Street’s 2007-2008 season will also feature the following works as well as one other yet to be announced.

The season will kick off Oct. 16 with Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys. Veteran stage and screen actor Jack Klugman ("The Odd Couple," "Quincy, M.E.," Gypsy) will co-star with Paul Dooley ("Breaking Away," "Waiting for Guffman") in the comedy, which will officially open Oct. 19. Directed by David Saint, the production will run through Nov. 11.

Donald Margulies' Sight Unseen will begin the New Year at the New Jersey venue. Performances are Jan. 15, 2008-Feb. 10 with an official opening Jan. 18. "Jonathan Waxman is a renowned and successful artist," according to press notes. "He has fame, fortune, a loving wife and a child on the way. But does he really have it all? When making his European debut at a gallery in London, he reunites with Patricia, a college classmate and lover whom he callously discarded all those years ago. Old tensions resurface and old wounds are reopened during the awkward visit. Both Jonathan and Patricia seem to have moved on with their lives since then…but have they?"

Theresa Rebeck's The Scene will play the George Street Feb. 26-March 23 with an official opening Feb. 29. The comedy tells the story of Charlie, "a talented, yet unemployed actor who rails daily against the soulless emptiness of 'the biz.' Charlie's life is blown apart when he meets Clea, a 20-something fresh off the bus from Ohio with voracious appetite for men and a ditzy combination of worldliness and naïveté. In a little black dress, she predatorily stalks her way into his life, fulfilling his fantasies — but leaving him feeling emptier than ever. But perhaps that was what he wanted all along." The Scene is a co-production with Hartford Stage.
