PlayBlog "Glee" Ratings: Week 12 Viewers gave the fall finale of "Glee" a fitting sendoff, with the freshman FOX dramedy matching its highest ratings of the season.

Last night's episode garnered a 3.6 rating – matching last week's season high – in the prized 18-49 demographic in overnight ratings, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Dec. 9 episode was seen by 8.1 million viewers, almost on par with last week's overnight tally of 8.2 million.

Fueled by interest in the resolution of several major story arcs, the "Glee" viewership totals were particularly impressive given that the music-filled show was up against tougher competition: original episodes of CBS's "Criminal Minds" and ABC's pairing of hit comedies "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town."

"Glee," combined with its lead-in "So You Think You Can Dance," helped FOX place second to CBS in the 18-49 demo for the night, and win in the 18-34 demo by a large margin.

The show's fall finale, entitled "Sectionals," featured performances of the songs "Don't Rain on My Parade," "And I Am Telling You," "You Can't Always Get What You Want," and "My Life Would Suck Without You."

Gleeks will now have to wait a long four months for fresh episodes of "Glee," which returns April 13.
