PlayBlog "Glee" Ratings: Week 5 Over five broadcasts this fall, "Glee" appears to have developed a loyal following, as the Oct. 7 airing of the FOX dramedy garnered 7.3 million viewers - a figure identical to the preview week's - in preliminary overnight ratings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the 18-49 demographic, the TV show earned a 3.3 rating, up from the overnight rating for the Sept. 30 episode. Combined with its lead-in program, "So You Think You Can Dance," FOX was again able to tie CBS for the win in the demographic, which is one of the most important ratings metrics for advertisers.

The steady ratings for "Glee" are notable given that viewership for its lead-in were down slightly. Meanwhile, the show's freshman timeslot competitors on ABC, "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town," suffered significant declines, dropping 16 percent and 18 percent in the 18-49 demographic, respectively.

In other "Glee" ratings news, DVR viewership numbers for the week of Sept. 14-20 were released recently, and "Glee"'s Sept. 16 episode was ranked the eighth-highest DVR'd show in the 18-49 demographic that week, according to TVByTheNumbers.com. Overnight ratings report "live" viewership plus same-day DVR viewership through 3 AM the next day. The newly-reported DVR ratings include "live" viewership plus DVR watching for the subsequent seven days. With the additional DVR numbers factored it, "Glee"'s initial 18-49 demographic rating of 3.2 rose to a 3.9.

This week's episode, titled "Vitamin D," featured performances of the songs "It's My Life," "Confessions," "Halo" and "Walkin On Sunshine."
