The Jonathan Larson Project celebrated its CD release with an in-store performance at Barnes & Noble on Manhattan’s Upper East Side July 29.
Performers George Salazar, Lauren Marcus, and Nick Blaemire joined the show’s creator, Jennifer Ashley Tepper, and music supervisor and orchestrator Charlie Rosen to give audience a live sneak peek into the album.
The Jonathan Larson Project debuted as a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below October 9–14, 2018. Conceived and directed by Tepper, The Jonathan Larson Project showcases songs from Larson’s never-produced work like 1984 and Superbia, cut songs from Rent and tick, tick… BOOM!, songs written for revues and radio, and others that had never been recorded. The accompanying book includes previously unreleased archival materials, original lyrics and sheet music, script pages, notes, and more. Song lyrics of the newly recorded tracks, as well as annotations, are also featured alongside photos from the recording studio and liner notes from Tepper and Be More Chill composer-lyricist Joe Iconis, a past Larson Grant recipient.
