News God Said "Ha!" Monologuist Is Born Again in World Premiere of Letting Go of God? Julia Sweeney — who penned and performed her solo works God Said "Ha!" and In The Family Way — returns to the stage with the third chapter in her trilogy, Letting Go of God?

The world premiere staging of the new work is set to begin previews Sept. 3 and opens Sept. 17 for a run through Oct. 24 at Hollywood's Hudson Backstage Theatre.

Writing, directing and starring in the work, Sweeney offers her "most personal work to date," according to show materials. The new solo follows her "unexpected and hilarious journey" to spiritual enlightenment sparked by a visit from two Mormon missionary boys. Her newfound curiosity leads her to leave the Catholic church — in which she was raised and loves — to a conclusion that not only surprised others, but herself as well.

Former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Sweeney wrote and performed her God Said "Ha!" in Los Angeles before heading to Broadway's Lycuem Theatre with the work about her brother. She then wrote and performed in In the Family Way (in L.A. and New York) about her adopted daughter. The actress has also been seen in the films "Pulp Fiction," "Stuart Little," "Clockstoppers," "Stuart Saves His Family" and "It's Pat" — the latter based on her SNL gender-unspecific character.

The design team of Letting Go of God? features Steven Young (lighting) and Drew Dalzell (sound). Pamela Keller produces.
