Running Sept. 20-Oct. 19, Durango "explores the journey to understanding identity while living in the shadow of the American dream. After losing his job, single father Boo-Seng Lee decides to take his two teenage sons on a road trip to Durango, Colorado. As they make their way across the Arizona desert, each passing mile unearths deeply held secrets unleashing long-held tensions between the father, a Korean immigrant, and his sons, first generation Asian-Americans."

The production will officially open Sept. 25 at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's Thompson Shelter House.

Originally developed as part of the O'Neill Playwrights Conference in 2005, Durango later premiered in a co-production with the Long Wharf and The Public Theater.

"It is very exciting to have so many O'Neill projects have both world premieres this season as well as move into second, third and even fourth productions," Goldberg said in a statement. "We are supporting the creation of a new body of work for the American theater, and it gives me great pride to be directing Julia's play for a new audience and a new community in Cincinnati."

Casting for Durango will be announced at a later date. Goldberg, who staged Doubt for Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park last season, recently extended her tenure with the O'Neill Center through 2010. In 2005 Goldberg became the first woman to lead the O'Neill Conference as artistic director. She previously served as the artistic associate of Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage.

Works developed at the O'Neill Center under the guidance of Goldberg have gone on to play the Public Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, 59E59th, and regionally at Denver Center Theater Company, Alliance Theater Company, Long Wharf, Woolly Mammoth, Florida Stage and Victory Gardens.
