News Gomez and Lucas to Star in Long Wharf's Old Man and the Sea Mateo Gomez and Rey Lucas have been announced to star in the Long Wharf Theatre's world premiere stage production of the Ernest Hemingway classic The Old Man and the Sea.

Gomez, who recently appeared in the Westport Country Playhouse's Of Mice and Men, will appear as the Old Man opposite Rey Lucas (Broadway's The Rainmaker) as the Boy.

Long Wharf associate artistic director Eric Ting directs the adaptation of the Hemingway work that he co-wrote with Craig Siebels. The Old Man and the Sea will run April 1-26.

In The Old Man and the Sea, press notes state, "a young boy recounts the tale of an old Cuban fisherman's 85-day struggle to land the greatest catch of his life. Armed with little more than a few coils of fishing line, the old man comes to respect and love his adversary even as he confronts his own mortality in this sublime tale of man against the elements, of courage and faith, and of the enduring human spirit."

Complete casting and creative duties will be announced shortly.
