Gorilla Repertory Theatre, the New York troupe best known for its annual open-air rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Washington Square Park, will be bringing the Bard's Henry IV, Parts I and II to the Lower East Side's Henry Street Settlement this summer. Performances will take place Aug. 20-23 and Sept. 3-20. All shows are free to the public.
Gorilla regular Mark Greenfield will direct the Shakespeare histories. The kinetic production's battle scenes will feature baseball bats instead of swords and garbage cans lids in place of shields.
Greenfield's Gorilla credits include Midsummer and Faust--The New Musical Comedy. He is also artistic director of the Faux-Real theatre company.
The Settlement is located at 466 Grand St. For information, call (212) 353-6988.
