The 1950s-styled rock musical Grease! concludes the 2000 summer season of Maine's summer stock staple, the Ogunquit Playhouse. The familiar tuner, about the romantic adventures of the teenage denizens of Rydell High, which opened on Aug. 14, will end its run on Sept. 3. Grease! is the final entry in the playhouse's 68th season. The Ogunquit, one of the last survivors of the New England "Straw Hat" summer stock circuit, was founded in 1933 by Walter and Maude Hardwig.
The highlight of the current season was a production of Yasmina Reza's Art, directed by Judd Hirsch and featuring William Atherton and David Dukes. Other attractions includes The Will Rogers Follies and Accomplice, both of which also played the Cape Playhouse of Dennis, MA.
