Greaves, who appeared on Broadway in Hairspray and Show Boat and in the recent Old Globe production of Working, will star in the title role of the biographical play with music that finds Waters later in her career recounting the hardships and successes of her life.
The production includes performances of songs that Waters helped make classics: "Stormy Weather," "Heat Wave," "Cabin in the Sky," "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Black and Blue," "Taking a Chance On Love" and "His Eye Is On the Sparrow."
Schele Williams will direct the production that runs through June 28. Scot Woolley will be featured on piano.
Penned by Larry Parr, Ethel Waters: His Eye Is On The Sparrow was previously presented at the Florida Studio Theatre in 2005 and in 2007 at the Bristol Riverside Theatre.
