Moises Kaufman's Off-Broadway hit, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, will hit the boards in London March 12, when it begins performances at the Gielgud Theatre. The play will open March 22.

Kaufman will again direct the production, which will star Michael Pennington as Wilde.

Corin Redgrave, actor brother of Vanessa Redgrave, was originally announced to take the title role. He, however, is currently occupied with Tennessee Williams' Not About Nightingales, due on Broadway this month.

Kaufman uses original transcripts, letters and biographies written by and about Wilde in the script. The play was first seen at New York's Greenwich House Theatre in Feb. 1997 and subsequently transferred to the Minetta Lane, where it ran for 18 previews and 534 performances. It has also been seen in extended seasons in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Gross Indecency has won a slew of awards, including the Lucille Lortel Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for best play. --By Robert Simonson
