A total of 15 shows surpassed the $1 million mark over Memorial Day Weekend. Taking the top spot was Hamilton, which grossed $2,759,708. Trailing behind Lin-Manuel Miranda’s juggernaut were usual suspects The Lion King, Hello, Dolly!, Wicked, and Aladdin.
Additional shows to reach seven figures this past week were 2017 Tony contenders Dear Evan Hansen, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and Come From Away, as well as the new musicals Anastasia and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Just shy of $1 million was Groundhog Day, grossing $974,066 (74 percent of its potential). This marked the musical’s best-performing week to date.
Building Tony buzz and a performance on the June 11 broadcast will likely be the boost the show needs to join the Millionaires’ Club.
