Guettel will also perform at the concert held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse; show times are 8 and 10 PM. Concertgoers will be treated to tunes from Floyd Collins ("The Ballad of Floyd Collins," "Through the Mountain") and the oratorio Saturn Returns ("Life is But a Dream," "Build a Bridge," "How Can I Lose You?") as well as several tunes from Guettel’s newest work, The Light in the Piazza ("Dividing Day," “Say it Somehow," "Love to Me"). The singers will be accompanied by a quartet comprised of piano, cello, violin and harp.

Adam Guettel, grandson of famed Broadway composer Richard Rodgers, has been hailed by The New York Times as “a young composer of strength and sophistication.” His latest musical, the aforementioned The Light in the Piazza is a fairy tale romance about the love affair of an American woman — who is not all that she seems — with an Italian man in Florence. Piazza will premiere at Seattle’s Intiman Theatre May 31-July 19 with a cast led by Titanic’s Victoria Clark. Craig Lucas, currently associate artistic director of the Intiman, wrote the book with music and lyrics by Guettel.

Tickets to Guettel’s concerts are priced at $45 (8 PM) and $30 (10 PM). The Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse is located at 165 West 65th Street on the 10th Floor. Reservations may be made by calling CenterCharge at (212) 721 6500.
